Things You Need To Make A DIY Lotus Craft

  • Thermocol sheet
  • Artificial lotus
  • Shilkpkar clay
  • Real leafs
  • Cutter blade
  • Colours
  • Colour brushes
  • Glue gun

Steps To Make A DIY Lotus Craft

Step 1-

Let’s start with making the base. Take some boxes of shilpkar clay and soften the clay with your hands. Take 5-6 piles of shilpkar clay and merge all the piles together while softening them with your hands. This way, you will be able to develop a proper desired shape from the clay. Roll the clay into a huge strop and cut medium sized pieces from the clay.

Step 2-

Place these pieces on a table and spread the clay. While merging these pieces, make a circular formation from the clay. If you do not get a perfect circle, use a cutter to give it a perfect circular shape. Remove the other clay from sides. Once you get the perfect circle, its time to give the circle a shape of the lotus leaf. If you have ever noticed, the leaf under lotus has a slight bend and curve from a single side. Prepare this curve in the circle. Take the cutter, draw a thin and long u and remove the part.

Step 3-

To give the leaf a perfectly smooth texture, keep rolling a bottle over the clay circle. This will make the clay thin and perfectly smooth. Also, ensure that you get a smooth shape of a leaf and if you don’t get that shape, use the cutter to give it a curvy shape and place it on the thermocol sheet. To get the beautiful stems and features of a leaf on this clay leaf, get some real leafs and place it on the clay.

Step 4-

Place the leaves and press them on the clay. Take a hard bottle and roll the bottle horizontally on the leaves. This will trace the real leaf shape to the clay leaf. Now, with the help of a cutter, remove the clay leaf from the thermocol sheet. The clay leaf must have stuck to the sheet due to hard pressing so gently bring it up. Keep the leaf aside and let it dry.

Step 5-

Once dried, you can fully remove the thermocol stuck to the leaf. Make sure you have completely taken off the themrocol from the clay. It’s now time to colour the leaf and give it a very natural look. For this, take a white paper and place the leaf on it. Get some colours and start with applying yellow shade. Paint the entire leaf with yellow shade.

To give this leaf an original and natural look, choose light and dark green shades. Take some light green shade and stroke the brush on the leaf. Paint the complete leaf with light green colours. Make sure the centre of the leaf is lighter and corners are painted in a bit darker shade. Now, take some dark green and blue colours and start painting the corners with the blend of these shades.

Highlight the stem of the leaves using dark green colour. Also make the corners dark to make the leaf look real!

Step 7-

Make sure you highlight all the traces of natural leafs to make this leaf look perfectly beautiful. Now it’s time to decorate the leaf. Take the artificial lotus and apply glue o the base of the lotus. On one side of the leaf, stick the lotus. You can also decorate this beautiful lotus leaf with other decorative elements like false flower petals!
